
Baltic Sea countries do not live up to the commitments they have promised to implement to protect the marine environment. The region as a whole has clearly failed. Germany and Sweden get the best grades but are still weak in many areas. The report is produced by Factwise for the WWF Baltic Ecoregion Programme.

ActionAid and Factwise’s report on Swedish development funding invested in tax haven based PanAfrica Energy has roused a debate in Tanzania. PanAfrica Energy extracts natural gas in Tanzania but its offices are based in the British Virgin Islands. The company's agreements with the Tanzanian state and its tax payments are now being investigated by a committee to map what has happened. Here are some links to Tanzanian press.
This ActionAid report shows how government owned Swedfund’s investments of development funding has been used to form companies that use advanced tax planning, e.g. by using tax havens. One investment has resulted in an energy company, that extracts and sells fossil gas in Tanzania, which has transferred large untaxed profits out of the country to tax havens.
A new report from Green European Foundation scrutinizes six National Renewable Energy Action Plans. The action plans contain detailed information on how countries intend to achieve their goals and thus provide a good insight into how Europe's energy industry will develop in the coming decade.
